Dear MIT STS Community,
Based on guidelines set forth by the President’s Offie and Office of the Chancellor, in light of the current COVID-19 situation, the STS Program has decided to postpone the remaining Spring 2020 events until the following semester.
We look forward to hosting Dr. Alondra Nelson, President, Social Sciences Research Council, as the guest lecturer for the Morison Lecture and Prize in Science, Technology, and Society, on Thursday, October 1, 2020, at 4PM. More details will be announced. Dr. Nelson's book, The Social Life of DNA: Race, Reparations, and Reconciliation after the Genome, will be the centerpiece of her presentation.
We are also excited about the continued, collaborative discussion with the History Department, Anthropology Department, and Comparative Media Studies/Writing Program on artificial intelligence. A distinguished panel of scholars has been assembled for an examination of AI & Ethics,∫ with Stephanie Dick (UPenn), Paul Dourish (UC-Irvine), Kate Klonick (St. John’s U), and Safiya Noble (UCLA). Event details will be forthcoming.
Best,
Gus
