We invite you to join us for Cross-STS this Thursday at 05:30pm, E51-095!
This session examines critiques of innovation and originality. In place of the pursuit of the new, how might we think of the ethics of copying or continuing the already-existing? Thinking across diverse domains such as health, kinship, engineering, and computing, our speakers explore practices of care which maintain, continue, and repair living bodies and life-sustaining infrastructures.
Join us on Thursday, February 20 at 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in MIT Building E51-095. As always, free and open to the public.
About Our Speakers:
Debbie Chachra is Professor of Engineering at Olin College of Engineering. In addition to her expertise in materials science, she works on improving engineering education and writes widely about gender in STEM, technology and society, and the maker culture.
Dwai Banerjee is Assistant Professor of Science, Technology, and Society (STS) at MIT. His forthcoming book, an ethnography of cancer in India. His current research project—A Counter History of Computing in India—tracks the historical and contemporary lives of computing technologies in India.
