Is America Profiting from Climate Change?

Here in the Northeast we enjoy warm summers and (relatively) low fuel prices, but what is the REAL impact of climate change on Americans? Join John Reilly, MIT economist and co-director of the Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change, to discuss the short-term, long-lived, local, and global effects of our everyday environmental and economic decisions. Book Launch: Instant: The Story of Polaroid

The arrival of the Polaroid Company Collection of some 10,000 artifacts at the MIT Museum in 2010, has begun to attract the interest of scholars, writers and researchers.  One of the first important book projects to engage with these materials is Christopher Bonanos' Instant: The Story of Polaroid published by Princeton Architectural Press.  Many in STS will recall, Victor McElheny's comprehensive and exceptional biography of Edwin Land, and we are delighted that he will be with us that evening.  This is a book launch, so it will include a short talk by the author, a brief film, the chance to see artifacts from the museum's collection and, of course, an opportunity to discuss the book and ask questions of the author.
