I just learned that President Obama has nominated Dr. Allison Macfarlane to become the new chair of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission:

Many of us know Allison from her many years at MIT, where she was a Research Associate in STS and in Security Studies. While here, she published the edited volume, Uncertainty Underground: Yucca Mountain and the Nation's High-Level Nuclear Waste (MIT Press, 2006):
