Please join us for a new semester of Sensing the Unseen, a seminar series to
discuss current scholarship on the sensory and media modes that people
employ to access realms of existence and experience outside the immediately
visible.
All seminar meetings are free and open to the public - no registration is
required.

Feeling exemplifies many epistemological problems connected to the unseen,
with respect both to unseen actions (inside the body) and to their meaning
for the experiencer.

A round-robin of screenings and discussion of works-in-progress by
Cambridge-based, ethnographically minded filmmakers, including Ilisa Barbash
and Lucien Castaing-Taylor, Chris Boebel and Chris Walley, Verena Paravel,
and Emily Zeamer.

A Sawyer Seminar on the Comparative Study of Cultures held at MIT in
2010-2011, Sensing the Unseen is funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation
and hosted by MIT Anthropology.
