CLIMATE CHANGE & THE MEDIA SERIES 

Techno-Optimism or Pessimism? 'Fixing' the Planet's Climate Problems

 Wednesday, March 31

1:00-2:30 pm 

HKS, Bell Hall, Belfer, 5th Floor

Last in a spring seminar series on "Climate Change & the Media," sponsored
by the Belfer Center's Environment and Natural Resources Program and the
Shorenstein Center on the Media, Politics and Public Policy.

This seminar will focus on the role of the media in communicating about new
clean energy technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as
controversial proposals, such as geoengineering, to 'fix' the climate change
problem through technology.  The seminar will look at ways to improve the
public dialogue over climate change and technology.         

All are welcome and invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.
Admittance will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

FEATURING:

Jeff Goodell is a best-selling author and journalist. His latest book, How
to Cool the Planet: Geoengineering and the Audacious Quest to Fix Earth's
Climate will be published in April by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. He is a
Contributing Editor at Rolling Stone, and his work has appeared in many
publications, including The New Republic, The Washington Post, The New York
Times Magazine, and Wired. Goodell is the author of four previous books
including Big Coal: The Dirty Secret Behind America's Energy Future
(Houghton Mifflin, 2006).  

 

Bryan Walsh is a national environment writer for TIME Magazine. He writes
TIME's "Going Green" column, which focuses on environmental issues, and he
frequently writes news stories on climate change and energy. A former Tokyo
bureau chief for TIME, Walsh also worked as a Hong Kong-based reporter.  He
is now based in New York.
