Greetings..I am part of a media arts collective called AstroDime 
Transit Authority..I studied at RPI and found out about the field of 
STS as part of my M.F.A. program. Currently our collective curates a 
video journal of art and technoscience called INtransit. We use a 
research methodology called "arts-based research" as well as 
referencing the field of STS, these fields inform our video journals 
and work.

I am writing for two reasons: first, if you know of any people who are 
doing interesting STS work in video in Latin America, we are looking 
for video pieces under 10 minutes in length for our upcoming journal, 
INtransit V.6: "scientific american"/La America Científica. This 
journal explores the question "What is a Scientific American?" We are 
basically "remixing" the idea of the magazine Scientific American, to 
open these questions up.I have the call for work in Spanish below. 

I am looking to screen a preview of our journal to a small group of STS 
folks in the next month to get feedback. The preview is about 20 
minutes long. If you are interested, you can email me at sam smiley

As an aside, I found a copy of La America Científica e 
Industrial from 1890, and am going to the NY public library this 
weekend to photograph it. Scientific American only published this for 
about 3 or 4 years and then stopped. I am happy to provide these images 
to anyone who is working in these topics. (history of science, history 
of science in Latin America)

¿Cuál es la visión de la ciencia y de la 
tecnología al sur de la frontera? AstroDime Transit Authority, 
un colectivo de artistas basado en Massachusetts, U.S.A. está 
buscando trabajo en video experimental que explora los siguientes 
temas: la astronomía, la biodiversidad, los métodos de 
investigación,  o la medicina para nuestro próxima 
revista de video "La América Científica". 

Los participantes seleccionados para la publicacion recibirán 3 
copias del diario de videos (La America Científica) y $50.00 
(US). Promoveremos actívamente el trabajo sobre estos diarios y 
también le informaremos si los diarios se muestran en diversos 
lugares. Fecha tope de entrega/presentación es el 30 de Abril 
del 2010.
