Subject: Invitation to participate in Open Collections Program user assessment

The Harvard University Library Open Collections Program (OCP) will
soon be conducting a user assessment. We would like to invite
subscribers to digital-collections, particularly those with experience
using the OCP Contagion and/or Expeditions and Discoveries
collection(s), to indicate if they would be interested in
participating in a focus group or individual interview.

The Open Collections Program aims at making many scholarly materials
from Harvard’s collections openly accessible to researchers around the
world. Your input would be most valuable in helping us to determine
how best to make Harvard’s collections available and useful.

There are several ways you can participate, all of which would take
about an hour of your time:

• Focus group member (up to 4 people)

• Individual interview in person (limited to the Boston area)

• Individual interview via phone or VOIP (e.g., Skype)

This research project is facilitated by TKG Consulting LLC. Their
strict adherence to ethical research practices ensures that your
participation is confidential. Any information you provide will be
used in the aggregate. No specific reference to you will be made and
the data collected will be destroyed within 6 months of receipt of the
consultants’ final report.

Please let us know as soon as possible, via email to Stephen Chapman
<stephen_chapman at harvard.edu>, if we may contact you to schedule an
interview or to discuss your participation in a focus group. These are
planned for October 2009.

Thank you in advance for considering this request.
