---------------------
This Friday (Sept 19), we will kick off the new Okawa lunch series with
a presentation by Sherry Turkle:

FALLING FOR SCIENCE: OBJECTS IN MIND
Sherry Turkle, MIT Program in Science, Technology, and Society

This talk points to the importance in science education of understanding
the many paths that concrete materials (and often very surprising ones,
ranging from bubbles and mud to LEGO bricks and Easy-Bake ovens) are a
path toward scientific curiosity for children. Using case studies, the
talk underscores the different styles that different children use to
approach objects and ideas, going through current research that
reinforces a notion of "epistemological pluralism."

Where: Wiesner Room (room 209), MIT Media Lab
Date: Friday, September 19
Time: Lunch starts at 11:45am, Presentation starts at noon
