This year's fun-filled schedule of the Dissertation Writer's Working
Group (DaWGs) is kicking off with a special panel event:

"TALES FROM THE ARCHIVE"

THIS FRIDAY -- October 10
5pm-7pm
Science Center 469

A special DaWGs panel on the varieties of archival experience

Featuring a grad student panel with extensive experience in many
types of archives, doing work on many different time periods:

Alex Csiszar
Daniel Margocsy
Lukas Rieppel
Dave Unger
Alex Wellerstein
moderated and introduced by Tal Arbel

We're going to share stories about our archival trips in the United
States, France, Germany, and Eastern Europe, among other places. The
goal will be to try and weave a rich picture of the many different
sorts of research, with different types of sources, in different
countries and contexts -- the grad student panelists have been chosen
for the scope of their experiences (both positive and negative).

Much will be shared and learned! You'll hear stories about archival
trips gone wrong, about archives who tried to shut out historians,
about the best of archives and the worst of archives, and more, more!
Presentations will be given! Powerpoint will be used!!

This is an event for students, especially G1-G3 grad students who
haven't had much (if any) archival experience and are looking towards
their dissertation work. If there are any senior thesis students who
would benefit from the panel, please send them along as well!!
Experienced archive rats also welcome -- but no faculty, to keep it
casual!!

Note: questioning of the importance of the archival experience may
occur!!

Food and drink will be provided! A merry time will be had!! Gruesome
tales will be told!!

See attached flier! That's how exciting this will be!!

RSVP to wellerst at fas.harvard.edu so we can tally it up!

Tal and Alex W.
