*Disruptive Environments: Academics, Activists, and Journalists in
Conversation*

We are pleased to announce that registration opens on *February 20^th *
for *Disruptive Environments. This* two day conference seeks to provide
a forum for conversation among journalists, activists, and scholars from
the sciences, humanities, and social sciences on interrelated
environmental topics, including climate change, environmental justice &
health, and ecological restoration & remediation.

By encouraging such conversations, the conference seeks: (1) to use the
resulting range of perspectives to develop better tools to conceptualize
environmental issues; (2) to examine the interrelationships among
environmental issues which are often managed and regarded as separate
problems; (3) to allow individuals working on such seemingly disparate
environmental issues as climate change, endocrine disruption, and
environmental restoration to consider possible linkages among them; and
(4) to inspire novel forms of action and collaboration among groups of
actors who are often positioned in very different ways within public
environmental debates.

Conceived by graduate students and faculty in MIT's Doctoral Program in
History, Anthropology, and Science, Technology, and Society (HASTS),
this conference aims to engage MIT faculty and students, colleagues from
other Boston-based institutions and beyond, and members of the general
public. Disruptive Environments brings together a range of prominent
journalists, activists, and scholars, including: Andrew Revkin (New York
Times), Kerry Emanuel (MIT), Naomi Oreskes (UC San Diego), Theo Colborn
(author “Our Stolen Future”), Devra Davis (director, Center for
Environmental Oncology) and Brian Donahue (Brandeis).

Disruptive Environments will be held at the MIT Museum April 10-11. Full
details about the conference schedule and panelists can be found at the
