Nottingham Postdoctoral Research Fellows in Social Science or 
Humanities (Two posts)

Applications are invited for two postdoctoral research fellows to work 
on the interdisciplinary research programme, 'Biorisks and Society', 
funded by the Leverhulme Trust.  The successful candidates will be 
expected to carry out research on a specified topic within the 
framework of the programme and to contribute to its general scholarly 
activities.  The projects are: Are we doomed? Writing Epidemics in the 
late 20th and early 21st centuries; Hybrids - between the monstrous and 
the modern; The Enlightenment and Darwinism: Contextualizing 
Bio-Science; Dangerous Heredity 1890-1930; Public Policy and Infectious 
Diseases in the UK during the 19th and 20th centuries.

Candidates must have completed a PhD, or be awaiting the final 
examination of a submitted thesis, at the time of application.  It is 
anticipated that one fellowship will be awarded to a candidate from a 
social science background and one to a candidate from a humanities 
background, both broadly defined to include interstitial fields like 
law.

Salary will be within the range £18,893 - £21,010 per annum, depending 
on qualifications and experience.  These posts are available 
immediately and will be offered on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 
2006.
