Hello WF'ers

Hey WF'ers - and especially Sue __

Yes it's been a while...

S/4HANA Flexible Workflow is one alternative - yes it's simpler/more strict - yes the tradeoff is it's easier to use - so there is still a place for traditional workflows if you want them.

The other to look at in S/4HANA is Situation Handling - which is not workflow but kind of achieves similar aims for handling business exceptions

Even I don't get time to look at BTP Workflow... on the to-do list somewhere but not my main role anymore
Best

    „ What is Flexible Workflows?“

I‘ve had a glimpse at the PO release flexible workflow. It‘s basically a customizable workflow to the application with a classic concept. Sounds good, and it maybe is. It‘s very similar to the workflow pattern, which I‘m using for a long time that is more tightend to the customizing with some configurable sub-workflows.

The customers are able to do some more advanced configuration in the customizing instead of the Workflow builder, which indeed requires more of a digging deeper into the system which is not easy to support with internal built-up knowledge when you haven‘t got a bigger IT.

I can‘t say anything else to flexible workflows in other application areas and they may work differently??

I for myself have implemented some smaller workflows in the past years which are still kind of „smart“, but S/4 is giving the users a different work experience. So from my long term view, I tend to say that Workflows will become lesser important for the daily business but keep their flags up when it comes to approvals which are linked across application or otherwise more independently of any existing one (where no flexible approval would be available - when I think of interfacing to other services).
