I was just looking through old messages now that I am returning here after
some period of (nearly) complete absence. I can't understand who noone has
replied to this message, so I will (even if you are the list owner and can
kick me out - or actually because you are the list owner and I appreciate this
list very much).

I will pretend I did not read that ;-)

Your practice should be revised :-)
I don't know the answers to the other questions, but your practice corresponds
(in my opinion) to using global variables and forms with no parameters in a
report.
I didn't know this was possible until I came across a solution where many of
the parameters were not filled in the binding. In the solution I came across
the swc_get_element macro was even used to get undeclared parameters. If you
want to confuse whoever has to maintain the solution I suppose it may be best
practice for that purpose, but apart from that I would say it is bad practice.
