Hi Jocelyn,

I am able to validate comments added in WebDynpro Forms.
For that I have coded UWL XML config with Custom Actions & FunctionModuleActionHandler. It is quiet simple and once we are used to UWL XML, we can do really wonderful stuff from it. Because of this my workflow looks clean without any unnecessary loops etc.

Thanks for your help, I am actually looking for handling Reject action, if user had not entered any comments in WebDynpro Form, she/he should not be able to Reject from UWL, that is the workflow should not continue ahead else it should show an error message. So as to avoid unnecessary loops in workflow just to validate comments field.

I am trying to achieve this using FM Action Handler, hope I am going in the right direction. If it works, will keep it posted.

Extremely sorry for late reply.
Thanks for your inputs, I need to check whether I can call a function module on button click of User Decisions. Because what I wish to do is to control reject action only if User entered a comment in WD Application. If no comment has been entered by user, Workflow should not complete the workitem.

Also, I am aware about creating custom buttons & calling function module from it. but need to check how we can associate that with User Decisions.

You can use the UWL XML configuration to call your own function module, or to add your own buttons e.g. to call your own notes UI.
Suggest you start with Darren Hague’s book on the UWL and also have a close look at the delivered XML configuration files in the Portal and the existing SAP Library Help.
Alternatively you could use the standard User Decision with Notes handling and possibly send it to your custom z table in  a subsequent background step of the workflow.

Dear All,

Is it possible to handle custom validation in UWL User Decision Workitem, I am aware about making Note Mandatory in XML Configuration, but in our case, we accept notes in WD Application which is stored in Custom Z Table, whereas the User Decision is taken from UWL Details View.

I am also aware about adding User Decisions completion using WAPI FM, but in our case we cannot hamper the existing User Experience of accepting comments in application and User Decision from UWL, please let me know if I can handle custom validation at UWL Inbox Level for User Decision based workitems.

If no option then surely I have to take care at Workflow Level using Loops. If any other thoughts please do share.
