Hi Eddie, Thanks for the solution.
I have another question. the client implemented custom transaction codes with screen varaints on FBV2 to disable header fields.
Surprisingly none of the screen variants are working in the new system.

thanks,
Hari K

Rick, Mike, Thanks for the clarifications.

I see following error message on decision task approval/rejection.

'User decision 000000056044 has no alternative to index 0000'

-Similar work item in 4.7 is working fine..

thanks,
Sharath.

Hi,

That continues to be SAP's recommendation, no doubt just to cover themselves, but my current client's system and it's 3.5 million open Work Items at the time survived the upgrade process pretty well when they upgraded.

There are a few housekeeping programs you need to run to adjust some of the new tables the upgrade will introduce, but overall the disturbance to the Work Items in my experience was pretty minimal.

As I recall the problems we encountered were more to do with standard Data Elements and Structures being deleted by the upgrade and tripping up our WF definitions and container bindings.

If you carry out a trial upgrade on a decent snapshot you'll probably flush out such things for yourself.
