It would be great to have some of the feedback from users shared with the whole community. As a third party solution provider for SAP mobility (including Workflow approvals) we too would love to hear what ideas the WUGGer’s have for SAP Workflow and mobility….

Subject: SAP Mobility and Workflow - Opportunity!

Hi Wuggers,
I’ve been contacted by Oliver Mainka of SAP. Please read below. If you are interested in providing customer input to his team – and have a good working knowledge of the workflows and culture involved, please contact me directly at
keohan at ll.mit.edu<mailto:keohan at ll.mit.edu>.

I think this could be a great opportunity so please consider giving him some of your precious time!

My name is Oliver Mainka and I work at SAP as a solution manager in a product development group called “Design & New Applications” (DNA). We are some 200 people around the globe and report directly to SAP’s CTO and board member Vishal Sikka. Our charter is to develop some of the first business applications on newer SAP technology.

In our Shanghai group we had a few customer conversations on efficient ways to mobilize the workflows customers have set up in SAP Business Workflow in their ERP/CRM/SRM/... backend (think leave request, travel expense approval, purchase order approval, …). We have some products available at SAP (Sybase Mobile Workflow, and some specific mobile workflow apps released in October 2011) but know that there is room for improvement. We think about making the mobile setup potentially coding-free, having standard UIs with some customizing options, allowing for easy cross-device type usage, etc.

We would like to gather more customer input to better plan for future product offerings in this domain. We’d like to interview customers for about an hour on the phone, using a survey. The idea is to focus on the customer’s pain points, needs, and desires. It would not be a session explaining SAP technology or an SAP sales pitch, but listening in to what they want from us.

I heard that your customer is interested in mobilizing SAP Business Workflow, and I’d like to speak to them. Ideally it would be someone who knows which SAP Business Workflows are in use, knows about their details (e.g. how many steps they have, whether the customers shows a lot of data with the workflow item, how many people use the workflow how often), and also knows to what extent it would add value to the customer to mobilize these, and what plans the customer may already have.
