ECC6 to ECC7 Upgrade workflow query.

Hi John,
A couple more thoughts on possible causes...

There’s a configuration table T77S0 that should have a setting under WFLOW ROLE to prevent work items that have security General but no selected recipients from going to the world.
It’s about checking the rule result and if that’s failed, throwing the work item to SWI2_ADM1 (work items without agents) rather than releasing it to the whole world.
That was the protection we have been using for quite some time against the sort of situation you are experiencing.
If you have to raise a SAP message (because really if it’s not a SOST issue this should not be happening at this level) you’ll need to know whether that setting was on or off.

Also you might want to check SWNCONFIG and see what settings were in there and whether the SWN_SELSEN job was scheduled. That runs on the recording of timestamps in table SWN_TIMESTAMPS and the notifications in the table SWN_NOTIF so if either of those tables were cleared/compromised during the upgrade that could result in a lot of emails for old work items being sent out.

But IDOCS could well be the cause... the IDOC guys often turn on these workflows without even realising it I’ve found.... that’s why we usually deactivate all workflows before upgrade, and reactivate the ones we want after upgrade.

Regards,
Jocelyn

Hi

Hope someone could help with the following.

On upgrading from ECC6 to ECC7, still in UAT, some users (not all) have received 1000's of workflow related emails. One user received 13000!, the customer is asking why and will it happen when upgrading the production system.

Could anyone shed any light as to why this could happen?

Kind Regards
