Hari,

What is the report you are trying to run? You will get the CNTL_ERROR
message if the report uses some kind of UI object (like a table control).

See if there's a way to make the report issue a flat listing.

cheers
Paul

Dear WUG,

Need your advice!

We have a requirement where every Monday morning at 6 AM – a report needs
to be run (with predefined variant) and the output need to be converted
into an excel and sent directly to business workplace.

My idea was to use a background job to trigger a workflow every Monday
morning at 6 AM and that the workflow in turn would take care of converting
and sending the report in excel format to the user’s business workplace.

As part of workflow design - I have used the workflow wizard: Include
“Execute Report/Job”.

1) Selected the operation mode as Dialog
2) I have provided the report name and the variant name.
3) The system displayed all the mandatory parameters that can be seen on
the selection screen (My assumption was that - I might not need these
parameters as I have defined a variant already).
4) I then use the option “Execute report and generate list”.
5) I then provide the title of the list and chose the option “Send to
recipients”.
6) Then I chose recipient type as “Organizational Object” and expression “
&WF_INITIATOR&”.
7) I provided the task abbreviation and name.
8) The wizard created a step in the workflow.

When I tested this workflow, I found that this task never got completed
(remained in “In Process”).

When I checked the TRFC – I found the status text as “Exception condition
"CNTL_ERROR" raised.”

I got the following information from ST22.

"CL_GUI_CUSTOM_CONTAINER=======CP" "CNTL_ERROR"

"RAISE_EXCEPTION" C
"CL_GUI_CUSTOM_CONTAINER=======CP" or "CL_GUI_CUSTOM_CONTAINER=======CM001"
"CONSTRUCTOR"

I searched for valid SAP Note but found none suitable.

Is my approach wrong? Please suggest a better way to achieve the desired
functionality.

Br,
Hari
