ESS Leave Work item 000000000000 cannot be read

Hello All,

If you can share your insight, it will be greatly appreciated.

The program RPTARQPOST was scheduled with a dialog user with HR specific roles. This is not good as it's difficult to know if the leave was actually posted by the background job.  The incorrect job was deleted and recreated with background user WF-BATCH. But since then the Leave workflow remains in SENT status and when the approver tries to process, the error message
"Work item 000000000000 cannot be read" is received.

Is there anyway to restart this workflow?
