UWL-not able to launch task copied from std task-TS50000075( webdynpro for java)

Hi Sudhir,
To help you understand the behaviour better ...

ALL work items from the registered system alias appear  in the UWL. If no specific launch mechanism is specified for a particular task the default launch mechanism is SAPGUI for HTML  i.e. webgui via the internal ITS. Which is the behaviour you are experiencing.

Txn SWFVISU is merely a shortcut way to indicate that a particular task  needs to launch using a SAP-based web application instead of the default launch options such as SAPGUI for HTML or the standard user decision handler.   Essentially SWFVISU was created to minimize the need to do UWL XML configuration.  However any custom UWL XML configuration you do for that task(i.e. itemtype) will override the SWFVISU entry.

Until you re-register the system alias in the UWL Admin iview, the SWFVISU settings will not be re-read - only when you re-register are the SWFVISU settings is the generated UWL XML configuration file uwl.webflow.<systemalias> updated inline with the SWFVISU entries.

And of course having updated the UWL XML configuration files you must clear the UWL cache for those changes to take effect.

Thax for the reply, yes, your correct but if that was not done then the work item would not have come to UWL rt...? but it is displaying now in UWL the issue is when i click the workitem its trying to go to back end( asking user id and pass) and not launching the webdynpro screen...!! i was just wondering if i have to do anything in SICF ..?

   I think you might have missed to re-register the UWL XML File. After you hvae added in the SWFVISU txn with the task and respective details, you hvae to re-register the UWL File. Approach some portal guys to re-register the UWL file.
