Workflow Preview on ECC 6 - WLC Parms????

Everyone's parameters should be the same because it is set up as a part of security. But, I did check the users that are having the problem and their parameters look the same as everyone else's.

X X XX X 00000 (user 1)
X X XX X 00000 (user 2)
X X XX X 00000 (myself)

Thanks for sending the explanation for all the X's and 0's.

I will check to see which SAP GUI version the users have. We have been on SAP GUI 710 for some time but I think there are a few folks out there still with 640. Why the preview would stop working now is a mystery to me.

Hi Monique,
Not sure if this is relevant, but have authorizations and/or user parameters (WLC) changed?
I would guess that if you were not authorized to drill into the workflow details, the bottom of the pane would be blanked out?
Really WAG though. Below is a very valuable piece of info on WLC parms...

User Parameter WLC - Workflow: User-specific settings

The User Parameter WLC controls various aspects of how workflow and several workflow related activities behaive for the user for whom it is set. At logon, the value of WLC is read into the structure SWLUSERPAR and held in memory. Whenever a relevant workflow activity is called for that user it, by design, checks the values in SWLUSERPAR and behaives in the way specified in the WLC parameter at logon. The number of characters and values allowable (or at least that will be used) in WLC is driven by the Components (fields) and their length in the structure SWLUSERPAR. As of ECC 6 EhP4 WLC consists of 16 Components (fields) all of which are one character except for the Component LOG_ENTRIES which has 5 characters. As a result the WLC Parameter currently has 20 characters. (15-1 character + 1-5 character). All of the 1 character Components are based upon the Domain XFELD which allows only 2 values, X=Yes and " "=No.

At my current customer we have set the vaue for WLC to "X X XX X 00000 ". For purposes of analyses it is easier to interpret if you replace each space with an asterisk which gives you "X***X**XX***X*00000*".

Refer to the Structure SWLUSERPAR and the Column "Value from WLC" to understand how it is interpreted.

I don't understand the Component LOG_ENTRIES or what it does.

I realize that some of the Short Descriptions are kind of vague. The following is a list that I found on the Web of character positions and their effect from an earlier SAP release and consequently covers only 11 of the current 20 positions. It is a bit clearer but its not official SAP information.

Position 11: No HTML in execution of ...

Position 10: No tips & tricks ...

Position 9: WI user view with ActiveX

Position 8: WF log user view with ActiveX

Position 7: WF log technical view / user view wo ActX

Position 6: Display ... texts in logon language

Position 5: seems to always be set - but may be changed somewhere else

Position 4: Enable forwarding ... to several users

Position 3: WI technical view / user view wo ActX

Position 2: Double-clicking on an object ....

Position 1: seems to always be set - but may be changed somewhere else

Our users should be on IE 7. I have IE 7 and am able to see the bottom portion. What about Java or anything else that would impact the preview?

Hi Monique,

The Internet Explorer version may be influencing this as the bottom part of the screen is most likely HTML based.

Check if the users who have this issue are using the latest IE version.

Regards,
Eddie

We are on ECC 6.0 and I'm hoping someone else on this group may have encountered the same issue and has a resolution. I apologize if this is a very basic question but I don't know where else to turn.

Our users are able to pull up the workflow overview from within a document. The screen is broken up into two parts (Workflows for Current Context and Current Data for Started Workflows). The second part of the screen is not appearing for some reason. Nothing has been changed on the security side. I have asked the users to try on a different computer and everything is fine. Obviously, it is something on their computer but I don't know what. What is required to see the bottom section of the workflow?

I've attached an image of the screen that users should be seeing.
