IDoc creation at last save only

Hello,
 
We have a workflow to approve outbound PO's in place. We are now going to send these PO's to our vendors via EDI but I only want to send the last IDoc not each one that is created when the PO is approved and saved. Anyone familiar with this? Is there a setting somewhere or is it something in the WF that needs to be added?
