Extended Notifications - Additional link in message to an iview

Hi Jocelyn,

Thanks for that. I tried debugging the standard handler CL_SWN_NOTIF_WORKFLOW to see where the existing links for the subscription parameters are applied but no luck. I could observe the code checking for attachments and applying them but not links (eg. Execute Workitem etc) even though some of the methods directly reference them by name. I had assumed from your comments that I could copy the class and embellish these methods to add my own link because I couldn't add subscription parameters directly in SWNCONFIG, but if the code is not executed then that is not going to assist either. At this stage I'd be happy to see the link appear on the email notification. If I have mis-understood conceptually can you please point me in the right direction, or let me know of any doco that covers this area.

Thanks.

Hi,

I have a requirement to dispatch extended notification emails that
contain an extra link to an iview in the portal. I have the URL of the
iview available but want to know if a new link can be defined on the
email that when selected takes the user to the iview. We want to use
this insteadof executing the workitem directly so my second question is
whether the existing standard link 'Execute workitem' can be deleted
from the standard email notification.
Ideas?
Thanks.

Hi Karl,
The links generated depend on the notification handler class you are
using and the subscription parameters.
There are multiple links available - check out the standard subscription
parameters.
You can use the subscription parameters to turn off the standard
executing work item link.

You can also pick up alternative executing work item links by listing
your iview in SWFVISU.

If that's not sufficient you might need to create your own notification
handler class to retrieve your own links - copy the standard handler as
a starting point.

Regards,
Jocelyn

Hi,
a while ago I had the same problem with a text file I had to attach in
the background. The code below makes this possible. I hope this can help
you.

*   Container for Text
    swc_container bo_sofm_container.
    swc_create_object bo_sofm 'SOFM' ''.
    refresh ta_attachments.
    loop at ta_mytable_new into wa_mytable.
      ta_attachments-line = wa_mytable.
      append ta_attachments.
    endloop.
* Save text as Workflow attribute
    swc_set_table   bo_sofm_container 'DocumentContent' ta_attachments.
    swc_set_element bo_sofm_container 'NO_DIALOG' 'X'.
    swc_set_element bo_sofm_container 'Documenttype' 'RAW'.
    swc_set_element bo_sofm_container 'DOCUMENTTITLE' tp_doctitle.
    swc_call_method bo_sofm 'Create'   bo_sofm_container.
    swc_get_element bo_sofm_container '_Result' bo_sofm.
    swc_get_object_key bo_sofm tp_message_key.
*   Remove enqueue
    call method cl_swf_run_wim_factory=>suppress_enqueue
      EXPORTING
        im_wiid = tp_wi_id.
*   Create note
    CALL FUNCTION 'SWL_WI_NOTE_CREATE'

I have used Darren Hague's book about UWL. It does not address the
issue about delta pull in the UWL and extended notifications. Extended
Notification documentation states to not run the jobs that execute
rswnuwlsel and to run a job of swn_selsen. So when configuring the UWL
should you still add configuration for the delta pull and full scan in
UWL admin? Mark proposes to release the two jobs the delta and full
scan of rswnuwlsel but with a future date on 12/31/9999.
It never executes but the function module that checks to see if the two
jobs exists verifys them. So I am not sure that by adding anything in
the parameters makes any difference for the delta pull in the UWL if you
are using swn_selsen?

I have another question about a warning message that pops up for the
other default connectors : AdHocSystem and ActionInbox. This pop up
indicates that these connections fail. We are not using either system
but get the warning messages. This is going to confuse our users
because the Webflowconnector works fine.
Does anyone know how to stop this message from being executed for the
AdhocSystem etc. I have deactivated the connections to the two systems
but still get the warning message that the connection failed for these
two systems.

Thank you

Hi Tom,
You need to schedule SWN_SELSEN sufficient to cover the UWL requirements
as well if you are only going to schedule one job to actually run.
Yes you do still need to add the configuration by running the RSWNUWLSEL
once manually for delta and full.

The AdhocSystem is a connector back to the portal based adhoc workflow.
You can hide the warnings by using portal role groups against the
different connectors - so it only attempts to execute those connectors
for someone with the specified role. This is also in Darren's book -
from memory it's in the same chapter as the delta pull steps.

Regards,
Jocelyn

Hi Andy / Rick,
I am not sure this FM will work properly for adding PDF as an
attachment. At least I was not able to use this FM successfully for
adding PDF as attachment to work item.

Rick

I did not think too much before I replied before! But

CALL FUNCTION 'SAP_WAPI_ATTACHMENT_ADD'
    ......

This appears to attach your document to the WI. Not sure here, but if
you specify the Wf top level WI, then it will be available to later
steps in your Wf so you can Bind it to the Foreground Step that you want
to.

Hope this helps, hope I'm right!

		Now, where I am stumped. How to attach in a background

anyone have an idea or three, or an example to reference?
