Hi Chandra, 
Standard behaviour if a background task does not complete successfully
is to recheck it using the SWWERRE job run - which occurs every 20 mins
or so. 
So really your problem is that the background update is taking a
looooooooong time.  I'd suggest you check your BADIs and make sure your
coding is performance efficient and not breaking any logical units of
work.

We are working on SRM 5.0
 
We have a problem while updating the status TS10007991.
Once after completion of all the SC approvals the status of above task
is still in "Ready" status. It is taking around 30 minutes to update the
status.
 
Is this issue with our workflow or with Basis problem?
 
Kindly suggest me to solve this.
