Problem with deadline monitoring

Hi,
I have made the change and it is working for the new instances of the workflow! However I still have older workflow instances in error due to the deadline monitoring job. Email notification step was to be executed after deadline was met and thats where we had a logical problem. Now the problem is if I restart those workflows already in error status will run according to the older version and will go in error again. I am  wondering if there is a way to "only skip task that is in error" and continue with the rest of the workflow steps (just skip email step as workflows have progressed too far and there are lots of steps after an email notification step that is in error state).

Good idea.
You still may have to change both entries though; and I wonder, if there could be an interface to re-set the deadlines of a work item.
For a one-shot correction it'll do it, if you pick up one work item and look what you can get.
