What does SAP_WAPI_REJECT_WORKITEM do?

Hi All,

What does SAP_WAPI_REJECT_WORKITEM do?..i suppose it rejects ;) but what
instances is it used?

ex: 1. the recipient of this work item can actually REJECT the work item
meaning..like i dont want to work with this Workitem..!!?? or
       2. he is actually performing an ACTION REJECT on the received work
item..meaning..like  i am rejecting the request  not Approving it??

or can it be used for both the purposes?
if its the first one? what happends to the work item?
