Create document from template in backgroud

Hi all,
Has anyone ever managed to create document from template in background ? 
The WF_DOC.CREATE is only dialog and trying have not dialog will not work bacause there's a call to screen inside function SWUO_CREATE_DOCUMENT_API. 
Before I start developing from scratch I was wandering if someone can give me an idea.
