workflow language

Hi Shai,

I can only speak for the R/3 SAP Business Workplace: Every workflow get's a fixed language set when it is started, which is the current logon language of the user who's initiating the workflow. Every subsequent work item titel will be created in that language and stored in the db table SWWWIHEAD.
If a user logs on with a different language than the one the workflow was started with, he'll see the work item titels in the workflow's language (and not his own), //unless// he sets the checkbox "Show work item texts in logon language" under Personal-Workflow-Settings in the SAP Business Workplace. The standard settings is: unchecked.

In your situation to avoid this, you'll need either to get the workflow started in English or you'll need to set a different language afterwards (which isn't -- as far as I know -- not possible to be done with standard functions, but a hard db update).

To transpose the start-language to english I would suggest to put the user WF-BATCH in between and let this user have the workflow started. (i.e. re-initiating the start event by the user WF-BATCH who's language should be English).

Best wishes,
Florin

  Subject: workflow language

  Hi all,

I have a workflow which so far worked in English logon (and worked well). Lately we've started using this WF for users that logs in ES (Spanish) and ever since we have problems: I haven't maintained task description in Spanish therefore users receive workitems without descriptions.
The issue is that the workitem recipients should still receive the workitem in English. My current solution is to maintain task description for Spanish same as English, however this is not such an elegant solution since I have to maintain texts twice. In addition, we are expecting soon to have users logging in Polish.

Is there any way to set the system to show workitem text in logon language and in case there is not such it'll show workitem text in English ? Any other ideas ?

  Thanks in advance,

  Regards,
