Start Workflow Via GOS or Event

Hi All.
We have requirement to start workflow manually. Prior kick off the workflow
user input several data in customize screen.
I would like to have your thought what is the best way to trigger workflow
for this kind of requirement. Will it be better to use GOS or raise an event
within that custom screen?
