Hi John,

I had the same issue in past and solved with the help of Jocelyn. Thanks
Jocelyn. :)

I have summarized those inputs as below, hope you will find it useful.

UWL/web does not do synchronous dialog chains and also secondary methods
and before/after methods will not be suitable for this scenario.

The simpler way is to create a User Decision with Note in the UWL
through XML configuration - and that doesn't impact how the user
decision is executed in R/3. Please make sure that you are using the
correct decision keys. You can find that by using FM
SAP_WAPI_DECISION_READ. Make sure you enter leading zeroes - i.e. they
should be 4 digit numbers.
You can find more details about user decision handler @
http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_03/helpdata/EN/7a/df014b037141ca9afc6433
ed42b519/frameset.htm

What you could do is use a second step with synchronous dialog chain in
R/3, and set it up the workflow to skip the second step if the user
decision was executed via the portal - i.e. if an attachment has already
been added. Please make sure that you have SAP_WAPI_ATTACHMENT_ADD in
your backend system otherwise you won't be able to see those notes.

Hi

Im sure I've seen a response to this, but I've searched the WUG and cant

find it, so apologies for asking.

I am using the ESS trip expenses worklow. When the request to approve
decision task is sent to the approver, they can either approve, reject
or
reject and send some text back. In the back-end EEC6 system the send
text
back is a follow on task for the approver and so is executed immediately

and so looks seamless.

In the portal this, 2nd task isnt executed immediately and is displayed
as
another task in the UWL, so the approver has to go back into the UWL and

execute this secondary task for sending a mail message to user.

Is this normal for EP7, is there any way I can combine the text entry in

the same workflow item so only one task needs to be executed by the
approver
Thanks

John
