There's a very good book on the Universal Worklist by Darren Hague - you
can find it at sap-press.com

Above all DO NOT leave the UWL to the Portal guys .... it needs a
workflow person to configure and support it.
Enjoy.

Jocelyn

Thank you veryu much for all your inputs..
I fixed the issue with method 'before work item'..Called the dialog
method to change invoice data(FV60) and in task method wrote some logic
to wait until the invoce line item chages are updated to data base...it
is working now...
Appreciate every one's help...

Jocelyn, thanks for information on UWL...Client is on 4.7
Enterprise...and using R/3 Inbox.. I am very much new to UWL concepts
and I still thinking that all UWL config is Portal concepts. where can I
get some more information of UWL..what are the required pieces to have
UWL working...

thanks every one..

You would use an AFTER method or a Program Exit (depending on your
release) for this. A secondary method is intended for dialog steps.
In any case Advance w/dialog will only work in the SAP Inbox
If you are using UWL you need to use UWL Configuration to get around
this - i.e. add an action to take you to the second step

Advance w/dialog with not work with an intervening background task. Is
the background task something you could put in a secondary method
(after) of the first "General Task"?

Hi All.

I have a background task between 'General task' and a 'User Decision
Step'. All of them are checked with 'advance with dialog option' option.

The issue is, when a same user is executing general task work item, user
decision task is not popping up instantly ..Instead the user need to
refresh his inbox to see the decision work item in his inbox..

is the 'advance with dialog option' functionality is limited just for
two steps...?

Here is the scenario..

in General Taks.. Invoice Coder(User) will enter invoice Item in FV60(I
have method calling Call Transaction FV60, with terminating event
'Completed') and saves it as 'Save as completed'. In the background task
I am reading the approver from that invoice item details and sending
approver a approval work item..

in some cases the coder himself can be approver...I would like to show
the approval decision step instantly... any suggestions...

thanks,
Sharath
