CATS Approval

You may find that using a standard delivered CATS approval task may work for you. 

To test this, configure standard task TS40007901 "CATS: Approval" in the desired data entry profile.  This must be a standard task not a workflow definition.  Make sure that you are the Agent for the task (this task does not have a routing rule).  

In the data entry profile, make sure "Approval Required", "Workflow Approval" and "Automatic Recipient" are marked.  For Task enter - 'TS40007901'.  

The standard object/method "CATS/APPROVE" uses the approval report RCATSB01.  You will need to created a variant named "WORKFLOW" (see transaction CATSWF).  We user approval program 'A'.  This approval apporach is like using transaction "CATS_APPR_LITE".   

The CATS program will launch the configured workflow when time is RELEASED.  At this time, you should see the WI id in table CATSDB.   

To get some ideas about the routing, look at task "CATS: Approval by superior".  Later, when you are ready to implement this with routing logic, make sure that the task is a GENERAL task.  All persons that release time need to be possible workflow agents.  

I really only focused the custom work on the routing rules to implement this workflow in 4.7 and 6.0 systems.

well how do we get the details of Employee through this BOR CATS.

B'cos CATS has just a reference of Workitemid which is present in CATSDB and SWWIHEAD.

but when i check CATSDB, i found the Workitemid to be '00000000' always,

Basically i want to trigger my customized WF when a Timesheet is submitted by the employee,

so i need all the PERNR details (Timesheet details) to be send along with the workitem to approver.

Could you throw some Help on it.

Hi,

The problem with the time entry approval is that it is the line (day) that you approve or reject not the workflow... You can use transaction CADO to report on table CATSDB for specific status (10,20,30,...). Take a look the field help for their specific meaning.

CAT2 where employee enters timesheet.
create workitem that would be sent to Approver.
on executing it would take the approver to CAT4, review it and Approve/Reject.

Data entry Profile is been set in CATS.
i have created a step where i want to check the Status of Request, like whether its Approved or Rjected.

Is there any way to check the status.
