Otlook Integration for sending Notifications

Hi,
I need to send notifications to outlook.I have used the BO -  SELFITEM Method - SENDTASKDESCRIPTION.
I need to send this message to outlook also.I have executed the report RSWUWFML2 .
 
I have specified this task but no message is sent to outlook.Whereas i have other Foreground tasks where it sends a mail and user 
is able to execute the Workitem.Is there any restriction if the task is a Background Task.
If so is there any other way to do it except using the FM (to send mails)
