Depending on what object that field belongs to PO, Shopping basket, Contract
etc etc.. you should have a BADI or another user exit before the save.
This is where you can compare the old and new value and pass along to your
event. All this is custom code though.
Change documents (SWEC) as far as I know, will only trigger a specified
event on change of a field, you cannot obtain old values from Change
documents.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
