I have also implemented the workflow,
It uses background program to send email to the approver and requester,
the program will have to be scheduled with the variants and the email
body are done using the dialog text from se61 that you will need to
create.

Hi All,
      I'm currently on ECC 6.0. I'm implementing the leave approval WF
for ESS. I've copied the standard template WS12300111 and incorporating
the necessary changes. But in few task descriptions and e-mail body I
need to print the following fields:
<Vacation begin date>
<Vacation end date>.
<vacation number of hours>
<absence type description>
<employee vacation quota balance>
Can anybody tell me, how can I get these variables in my workflow.
