this sounds a bit promising, though I do not completely understand the
solution (yet). e.g. How can you send an e-mail to the workflow system
(what adress ?)

 

Further: do you have a title and author of the 'bible' you mentioned ?
As stated, earlier...I am a newbie...;-)

There is a section in 'the bible' on Offline Work Item Execution via
EMail, pg 465.  I have not used it but have always thought it would be a
good thing to try.  

 

The basic steps are:

 

send email to Approver, the email contains a MAILTO: link.  The email is
sent to the Workflow system.  There appears to be a bit of config in
SO28 to do something and it looks like the email is processed by
Business Object WI_MAILREC.  WI_MAILREC has Interface IFRECEIVE, which
you can add to your Business Object and redefine the RECEIVE method to
process the incoming email creating the termination event you want for
the decision task.
