General question regarding business workflow

There are a couple of WF books available, but I'd personally recommend the
one by Jocelyn Dart (et al.)

There is also a lot of example scenarios in the help (although not
comprehensive)...

Yes, PCR WF's are common. Such approval processes can benefit greatly from a
well designed WF.

How much WF is used varies greatly. A lot of sites have not much more than
PO/PReq release and Invoice Variance processing. Others have every bell
and whistle.

How much effort? How long is a piece of string... If you search these
archives you'll find plenty of discussions on this topic. Try search for WF
estimation.
