Deleting Container element : Inherited Element may not be deleted

Hi,

I'm trying to delete some redundant container elements. But it gives me
the error 'Inherited Element may not be deleted'.

I performed a 'where used' and found its not being used anywhere;
moreover the element is neither imported nor exported.

Any ideas?
