Hi Vijay,
Yes, the UWL is a portal solution. I am not very familiar with the third
party offerings these days and I am not sure if we're allowed to mention
them. There are a couple, should not be too difficult to find - google is
your friend, as are SearchSap, SapGenie, SAPFans, etc.

Exchange Connector has nothing at all to do with workflow, it is for
sending mail to and from Exchange.

Have you looked at extended notifications as suggested earlier?
