Yes R/3 Inbox work items go to UWL,
1) Install UWL in portal
2) Register R/3 System in Portal
3) view the UWL Iview in portal 
 Bang!! you got all your R/3 (Registered) workitems(not your SAP Inbox). in 
portal.
it's piece of cake as long as it works fine :)
