Thanks all...

Honestly not sure. That's a question for SAP.

I am assuming that when we get up to date on the SAP service packs we
will not have this issue?

Hi Rick,

Yes the key and value are correct. I know that Dominik has used this
to
fix a problem they were having with Desktop Workplace.

I got a reply back from my pc tech guys. They said it did not work.
I checked the notes provided but did not see this reg hack to check
the
key/value to ensure it was correct.
Can you check the value and ensure you gave me the correct key/value?

If still does not work, would it be a service pack issue? I know we
are
behind.
We are at patch level 43.

Thanks a ton folks...
(This is a high priority for us. All our DVPs just got brand new
laptops
with XP!) Rick

I found it in OSS but the note that I found it from was not realy
describing a problem with SAPGUI but rather with some other program (I
cant remember which one). The error sounded the same so I tried it and
it worked.

Either way there is a reply from John Cooper that explains all the OSS
notes (I just saw it and I am going to check it out).

Where did you get this information from?

>>> araskin at 3i-consulting.com 3/28/2005 15:16:29 >>>
OK here is what you do. Make sure that you have the latest patches.

If applying the patches doesn't work then do this:

WARNING: Please ensure that you are familiar with the operations of
the
Registry and that a backup has been taken before any changes are made.
If you are unsure please consult your relevant PC Support staff.

1. Open your registry (regedit.exe)
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->Software->Microsoft->Internet
Explorer->Main->FeatureControl->FEATURE_DISABLE_MK_PROTOCOL .
3. Create a new DWORD entry where the key is 'sapgui.exe' (without
quotes) and the value is '0' (without quotes).

I had this problem from Desktop Workplace. Users would display the
work
item but the description would show the error that you describe below.
I
don't really know why this fix works but it does for me. You might
want
to continue pursuing it with SAP just to make sure that its officially
sanctioned.

Let me know which fix works. Patches or registry hack.

I have major problem with SAP GUI and Windows XP SP2.
After users upgraded to XP SP2 we lost the Description of the WF task
in
the window.
Looks like it is attempting to load Windows Explorer.

In our test lab we re-imaged the same brand of laptops with all the
current service packs for XP SP2 and get the same results.

In place of the Task Description, we get "This page cannot be
displayed"

...
Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer

I will be opening any OSS note but thought I would also post it here.
Just in case someone else already has knowledge of this issue.
?

Any help is appreciated.
