Delay in background workitem

Does it take long because the work items are waiting to start execution
(20 minutes .... start ... a few seconds ... completed), or because
performance is poor (a few seconds ... starts .... 20 minutes ...
completed)?
 
In the latter case I wouldn't think there is too much you can do by
customizing. You can possibly check whether available processes is an
issue.
In the former case I suppose your deadline handler is not running
frequently enough.

Hi everyone, 

After upgrade from 4.6C to ECC 5.0, the execution of background
workitem's takes long time to complete (around 20 minutes), can we
change any settings of the workflow runtime system, or workflow
customizing to reduce the delay.
