Triggering a Work Flow Vs Sub Work Flow

Hi All,
 If we want to use a work flow in another work flow, 

*--> is it better to use it as a Step in the work flow , or *
** 
*--> should we trigger the second work flow using an event.*

 which is better idea..!? why..!?
