SWUY does not pass MSGV1..MSGV4 to workflow

WUGroup,

Is anyone using transaction SWUY? This looks incredibly useful
(in response to an error message, the user can choose to start a workflow),
but I can't
get my little test example to work.

I can raise the message ok, and the linked workflow is successfully kicked
off.

The problem is that the message parameters (MSGV1.. MSGV4) are not passed
to the workflow instance.
Standard SAP does provide container elements for these variables, and calls
code to populate
them, but they do not go across. Not even in the standard SAP example for
message WO 029.

There's no mention of this problem in OSS, so I wonder if it's just me.

Has anyone succeeded where I failed :) ?

thanks,
Paul
