Retrieval of container elements after runtime

Hello WUGers,

I am currently working on a program, which is supposed to retrieve data
from the workflow container to re-use them. The process instance might
be completed or still in process. 

Can anybody suggest a effective method to do that? Table SWW_CONT
doesn't look to me as is stores the data (even after workflow
completion)!?
