workitem text shows variable name instead of value

"Sometimes"? Same event and same FM? 

May seem obvious, but is the var spelled correctly? 
Are the bindings from the WF to Task correct? 
In Task text, var should be entered with &myVar& 

If the value does not exist at the time var is to be used I would think
it 
would just be empty and not display the var name.

Sometimes, I have this problem wherein my work item text shows the

name instead of it's value when it comes in SBWP. What is the reason

that? How do I make it show the value only everytime it comes as a work
item 
in my inbox. My workflow is triggered through SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT.
