No offence taken, Kjetil
Actually you might have half a chance of turning it off in the UWL XML config - but the good doco on that is still internal unfortunately.

I don't disagree with you on your point, but no-one prevents the average
user from using unreadable fonts in word processors...

In fact, I have experienced just what you say. In one of solutions for
reporting (cost object allocation among other things) we did not show the
order level when documents were assigned via orders, we just displayed cost
centres or WBS elements. Someone said this was hopeless, and everyone
agreed that more information is better. All fine and dandy. A week after
moving it to production we decided we had to change it and let the user
select whether to display the order level or not.

I didn't mean to make your day miserable, so I hope it was taken as the
half-joke/half-serious comment that it was meant to be.
The Microsoft way of thinking (in my opinion) is "we think our idea is
better than any idea you might have so we will enforce it". I won't blame
SAP of doing that with all the wild things you can customize in there, but
this little thing is perhaps an exception. I do it myself too (but then
again, I don't have neither thousands nor millions of customers all over
the world), because I simply haven't considered that people might want
things to function differently. In addition there is the customer ... they
are (usually) not willing to pay for flexibility unless we solidly prove
wide differences in user preferences.

Sorry - not what I meant. It's just I've never seen a user who is always
able to make a decision on the spot every single time they execute a work
item so... I think if you take it away your next call will be from someone
wanting it back again.

Sounding a bit like Microsoft there Jocelyn, if I may say so.... the bad
old "we know best what is best for you and we will not give you the option
of modifying it"

As far as I know it is not possible to remove the Cancel button unless you
want to get your hands really dirty. I looked into this at one time, and I
think I found out is has to be added dynamically by the code for the user
decision solution. The reason I complained was that the texts and
translations (to Norwegian) are inconsistent. Inconsistencies in texts and
translation is - according to the person who responded to my OSS message -
not an error. Right...

Ute,
All the cancel button means is - "I can't deal with it now, leave the work
item in my inbox".
The users are going to need this. You should not be hiding it.
Rgds,
Jocelyn

Subject: How to deactivate option to cancel User Decision

Hi workflow-gurus,

might be a stupid question, anyway,
I give it a try.
I was asked whether it is possible to hide the cancelation-button in a user
decision.
I4ve definied two decisons, the system automatically generates the
cancel-button.
The Users in question don4t want that button.

How can I hide this button?
If so, can anyone please tell me where to look?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Ute
