WF Creator - SAP-user or not

may be a stupid question,
so please be patient.
 
Does the creator which is obligatory for the event creation
via function  module :SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT
have to be a sap-user?
If so, is it possible to use a background user?
 
Any help highly appreciated,
`cause I was unable to answer this questin via other media.
