'Created' events in update task

Hi all,
SAP 620 here, I'm calling SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT in a FM which is called i=
n an
update task.
Natuarally I set COMMIT_WORK to ' ', expecting the event linkage to be ab=
le to
access the document created in the update task. However the check FM fail=
s -
unable to find the doc.
 
Raising the event via SWUE a few seconds after the document is saved work=
s fine.
 
Just for interst sake I set COMMIT_WORK to 'X' and get the same result.
 
I'd like to use the SAP WAPI's, but seems like SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT FM
doesn't do asynchronous updates? ("In update task" also doesn't work)
